Care: how to care for your Wool product (see below)

Brief Clan History

Descended from the ninth century Scottish king Kenneth MacAlpin, the clan once held lands on Skye and Mull. They were honoured as hereditary abbots of Iona and a branch of the clan were hereditary standard bearers to the powerful MacDonald's of Sleat.

Little is known of the early history of the clan. The 19th century historian W. F. Skene gave the clan a descent linked to the clans of Siol Alpin.

He claimed that the Finguine who appears in the MS of 1450 was the brother of the Anrias of whom the Clan Gregor claim descent from in about 1130.

Because of the clans early association with the Lords of the Isles there is no trace of early history of the Mackinnons as an independent clan.

On the forfeiture of the last Lord of the Isles in the 1490s the clan at last gained some independence, though the Clan Mackinnon was always a minor clan and never gained any great power.

How to wash

In the first instance we recommend dry cleaning all wool products.

If you wish wash by hand or by machine please do not wring the item, or allow the item to float free in a washing machine. when using a machine always place your product in a pillow case so that it does not tangle or loose its shape.

By hand wash gently using luke warm water and when drying taking great care to ensure that the item is placed flat on a towel for it to dry. This way the product will keep its shape and its softness, and look as new as when first bought.
Always use a recommended wool detergent ie Woolite.
