Care: how to care for your Wool product (see below)

Brief Clan History

The clan flourished in Glencoe, where it was founded in the eighth century by a son of King Nectan, ruler of Caledonia, and also in Fife and Dumfries-shire.

By tradition, the clan provided the bodyguard to the MacDonald chiefs of Glencoe, and a Henderson was killed trying to defend his chief during the infamous Massacre of Glencoe in 1692.

In the 14th and 15th centuries this name was found in various parts of Scotland. The Hendersons of Glencoe claim to have occupied that glen before the advent of the MacDonalds, and further allege that the ancestress of the MacDonalds was the daughter of the Henderson chief.

In the north the Hendersons are septs of Clan Gunn and claim to be descended from Henry, son of George Gunn the famous crowner of the 15th century.

From the Hendersons of Fordell in Angus descended the noted divine, William Henderson (1583* 1646). In the Highlands the name is often rendered as MacKendrick from the Gaelic MacEanruig meaning son of Henry.

How to wash

In the first instance we recommend dry cleaning all wool products.

If you wish wash by hand or by machine please do not wring the item, or allow the item to float free in a washing machine. when using a machine always place your product in a pillow case so that it does not tangle or loose its shape.

By hand wash gently using luke warm water and when drying taking great care to ensure that the item is placed flat on a towel for it to dry. This way the product will keep its shape and its softness, and look as new as when first bought.
Always use a recommended wool detergent ie Woolite.
