Care: how to care for your Wool product (see below)

Brief Clan History

With lands in the highlands and lowlands, the clan became one of the most distinguished in Scotland and played prominent role in the nations affairs throughout the centuries.

Of English origin, the name is first recorded in Scotland in Renfrewshire, in the thirteenth century, and the clan went on to gain two dukedoms.

Walter Fitz-Gilbert, from whom descended the Dukes of Hamilton, was ancestor of this family. During the Scottish War of Independence he held Bothwell Castle for the English, but later transferred his support to Robert the Bruce.

He was rewarded with the Barony of Cadzow. In 1445 the 6th Lord Cadzow was created Lord Hamilton and later the titles of the Marquis (in 1503) and Duke of Hamilton (1599) were conferred on the family.

The Hamilton chiefs held many high offices and the 1st Duke was given hereditary keeper ship of the Palace of Holyrood house. There were many important branches of this family.

How to wash

In the first instance we recommend dry cleaning all wool products.

If you wish wash by hand or by machine please do not wring the item, or allow the item to float free in a washing machine. when using a machine always place your product in a pillow case so that it does not tangle or loose its shape.

By hand wash gently using luke warm water and when drying taking great care to ensure that the item is placed flat on a towel for it to dry. This way the product will keep its shape and its softness, and look as new as when first bought.
Always use a recommended wool detergent ie Woolite.
