Brief Clan History

One of the oldest surnames in Scotland, it is thought that its origin lie in ancient lands of the Picts in the north-east of Scotland.

The clan from an early date held lands in Aberdeenshire, with its main seat at Craigfintray Castle, in Kildrummie, but records of the name are also found from early times Lanarkshire and Ayrshire.

This name has a local origin, being taken from any crag, or (in Scots) craig, near which a man might have his dwelling. In the 15th century, no less than three families claimed to be of that Ilk, that is, the chiefly House.

From William the Lions reign onwards, the name occurs in old records, and, in the 15th and 16th centuries, it is particularly common in the Edinburgh district.

There were Craigs too in Aberdeenshire as well as in Berwick and St.Andrews. John Craig was a colleague of John Knox

How to wash

In the first instance we recommend dry cleaning all wool products.

If you wish wash by hand or by machine please do not wring the item, or allow the item to float free in a washing machine. when using a machine always place your product in a pillow case so that it does not tangle or loose its shape.

By hand wash gently using luke warm water and when drying taking great care to ensure that the item is placed flat on a towel for it to dry. This way the product will keep its shape and its softness, and look as new as when first bought.
Always use a recommended wool detergent ie Woolite.
